A consistent rate of flow, regardless of system pressures, is established from 1 to 2 when the pressure differential between the two ports is 14 bar (200 psi) or more. The valve's nominal maximum rating is the upper limit of flow achievable when controlling flow from 2 to 1, which is limited by the diameter of the respective control orifice rather than pressure compensation.
