Elecdan SUR-1216-2438/50A Peak
Step Up Voltage Regulator
Elecdan provide multi-source, multi-screen display control solutions for your control and supervision rooms.
A step up voltage regulator generates a regulated output voltage that is higher than the input voltage.
Purpose
Able to convert a low voltage into higher voltage, within a reduced volume, and with a high efficiency (95%), this boost converter can advantageously replace conventional dc/dc converters when input/output insulation is not required.
Moreover, if your starting current is very high, the technique of elevation enables the switching, almost directly and immediately, from the source (battery) to the load, while a typical converter can collapse.
General Presentation
The active part ("brick" type case) of the step-up regulator measures 120 x 64 mm (i.e. not counting high-performance screw connectors for wires of section 72mm2) and is thus compatible with regular brick modules.
The passive cooling method was chosen by the customer. A first special heatsink/dissipater (225 x 120 x 37 mm) receives the "brick" case. An optional second one "S type" of same dimensions can be placed symmetrically.
Electrical Data
Power output (Pout): 900W / 1200W peak
Input voltage Vin: 12V to 16V
Common input and output, occupying the 2 "-" connection terminals
Output voltage V out: 24V / 38A / 50A peak
If V in becomes lower than 12V, this decrease is transmitted to V out (example: V in = 10V V out = 22V)
Input current: 106A maximum, under 12V
Minimum load current: zero
Line + load regulation: better than 2%; dynamic answer < 5% / <50ms
Efficiency at 900W: 95% (> 96% at half load)
Ripple: less than 1% of V out; fixed switching frequency 230 kHz
Protections
Limited overloads: by hiccup as long as V in / load remains < 62A
Abnormal overloads: please add a fuse or current limiter on the output or input
Under voltage (< 9.5V) or overvoltage (> 17V): the regulator no longer elevates the input voltage
Filters: input and output
Thermal protection: lowering of V out at V in – 0.5V (automatic reset)
Vibrations, tropicalisation, iP67 sealing: with molding
Stainless steel for the high-performance wire-connectors
Ohmic wire loss reduction, with connectors receiving sections up to 72mm2
Thermal Characteristics
Storage temperature: - 40°C to + 100°C. Temperature coefficient: 2.10-4 / °C
Losses under 900W: = 48W
Max. ambient temperature (under 900W), the "brick" case being equipped with:
· 1 dissipater 225 x 120 x 37 mm (thermal resistance 1.5°C / W): 20°C
· 2 dissipaters (thermal resistance 0.75°C / W): 55°C
· pulsed air (2m / s) divides by two the thermal resistance
Mechanical Presentation ..
"Brick" case mounted in a heatsink/dissipater "type 225"
This dissipater can be doubled (optional) by an identical symmetrical one ("type S")
"Type S" dissipater can be equipped by an optional RAIL-din clip on its large side (225 x 120 mm)
Moreover, all dissipaters can be equipped with a special RAIL-din clip on the side 225 x 37 mm
Weight of the "brick" alone: 590g; weight of a "type 225" dissipater: < 800g
